At present, we cannot accept any new members in the 8 to 12 years old age range, as we don't have the space at our training venue to accomodate more athletes or enough coaches to run additional training sessions. We are operating a waiting list, so please contact us via the club website joining page, if you want to be added to the waiting list.

Chairman's Welcome

Hi and welcome to the Caithness Amateur Athletic Club website.

Caithness Amateur Athletic Club (CAAC) has been in existence for over 55 years and has provided local athletes with the opportunity to take part in athletics at local, regional and national levels. CAAC’s aim is to introduce and develop the knowledge and skills that will allow athletes improve their performance and realise their own potential in the sport. The Club has built a reputation in the local community for being enthusiastic, inclusive and fun and we are proud to be able to provide a comprehensive and diverse programme of athletics. We welcome both athletes who want to compete  and those who want to take part for fun and fitness.

CAAC is open to all members of the community. Children are eligible to join CAAC from the age of 8.  CAAC has a range of qualified and experienced coaches that enable athletes to participate in events including Shot-Putt, Discus, Hammer, Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Hurdles, Sprints, Middle Distance and Endurance racing. The Club provides a safe and professional coaching environment with an emphasis on taking part, team participation, development of social skills and above all, enjoying the sport.

Athletes can represent the club in competition from the age of 9. During the summer, there is the opportunity to compete at regional level in the Grampian Athletics League meetings that take place at Queens Park Stadium in Inverness, as well as locally, in our own club championship. Athletes are also encouraged to take part in open, regional and national championship events at various venues across Scotland and Highland Games, which often feature track and field events.

None of this, however, would be possible without the collective effort and voluntary commitment invested by everyone involved in supporting the Club. CAAC benefits from an enthusiastic range of dedicated personnel: the Committee, coaches, officials and helpers. Their support ensures we are able to provide a firm platform from which to deliver a high standard of athletics in Caithness.
